Core Business

Scientific research in the field of microelectronics, nanotechnology, design and technologies for ICT systems,3 to 10 years ahead of industrial needs

General info

IMEC, Interuniversity Microelectronics Center, was founded in 1984 and is today Europe's largest independent research center in the field of microelectronics, nanotechnology, enabling design methods and technologies for ICT systems. IMEC performs scientific research that runs 3 to 10 years ahead of industrial needs.Training is given in microelectronics and ICT. IMEC informs industry of its latest and future research during a two days Annual Research Review Meeting.IMEC is interacting with industry in other ways: - the Industrial Affiliation Program: industrial researchers integrate into IMEC's research teams, based on shared costs and risks and built on sound intellectual rules.- technologies developed by IMEC: available to industry for further development or commercialization via technolgy tranfer or license agreement
