Core Business

Design, development and production of high-end dual-fraquency OEM GPS/GNSS receivers for navigation, positioning and timing applications.

General info

Septentrio is a venture capital spin-off company of IMEC, Europe 's largest independent micro-electronics R&D center. The headquarters are in Leuven's DSP Valley, close to Brussels. A sales office is located in the USA, at San Jose, California..They provide the hardware and software building blocks for satellite navigation equipment. As Original Equipment Manufacturer, Septentrio developped a unique ASIC being the core of GNSS Receivers providing precise positioning, timing, attitude determination and so forth and working with all satellite navigation signals in the sky, today and to-morrow.

Activities & Products

Design, development, commercialisation and support of high-end satellite signal receivers. As Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Septentrio developped a unique GNSS chipset, based upon its patended GReCO chip. This forms the core of - the PolaRx2 dual frequency GNSS Receiver, providing position, velocity, time - the PolaRx2 SBAS, tracking up to 6 SBAS augmentation satellites - the PolaRx 2TR, measurement of noise, sensitivity and tracking stability. Its open architecture combined with the use of a standard Linux OS and TCP/IP access gives the possibility of implementing user-developed applications on the receiver board itself. They can process all available satellite navigation signals: GPS and GLONASS on L1 and L2 frequencies, as well as signals of the augmentation systems EGNOS (Europe), WAAS (US) and MSAS (Japan).Applications can be found in railroad, marine and aviation navigation, geodesy, surface mining, precision agriculture, monitoring networks, precise timing and 2D and 3D attitude determination.
